MICHAEL FREIFELD AND JEREMY ROSS SWEEP STOKEM OUTLAW!!!!

The Stokem course was pretty unique. I decided to ride my trusty revenger with some brand new Munkae Trucks, courtesy of TNTRide and Downhill Dragon Clan. The hill was not super fast and not super technical. However, with snow on the inside of the first corner, and a super rough section on the long straight, things were getting tight and challenging.

With a nice hairpin left at the top of the hill with a snow bank covering the inside and some nice melt water covering the exit, traversing it properly proved to be interesting. Many a time I was scared of rubbing wheels like I had with Keith Rebhorn at the Clearfield outlaw.

There was a nice straight with a huge rough section covering the right side for a good length of the hill. You either got real tight in the left lane, waited to pass, or just braved the sketchiness. I had one heat with Alex Newton in which I went to pass on the right and wobbled for a good 60 feet, but managed to ride it all out.

The final left corner was tight enough, that if you didn’t take the right line, you would go careening into the curb and skid across a goose crap covered patch of dirt. Luckily I never met that fate. After that there is a quick right into the finish line. I managed to come in first every heat, and each was decently interesting.

I took a pretty conservative line for every heat but the final. In the final my whole path that day was totally modified due to necessity. It was Keith Rebhorn, Sean Graves, Andrew Boreland and I. It was Andrews first race and he shredded his butt off. Off the line Andrew got out in front with me following close behind. I cut into the first corner so tightly that my butt was nearly skimming the snow bank on the inside. I got so close to Andrew that I had no choice but to put my hand on his back throughout the corner. Accidentally I bumped him forward giving him a dominating lead on us. Luckily, I didn’t lose too much speed and was able to hold Keith and Sean off. The rest of the hill I found myself stalking and reeling in Andrew. The final corner was coming up quick and I was neck and neck with Andrew as it approached.

I realized this was my only chance and jumped in on the way inside, taking a way tighter line than ever before. I thought to myself “this isn’t going to end well”. The curb got closer and closer as I drifted a bit to shave down some speed. I looked away from the curb and gripped up just a few inches away from “poopdum”. Andrew crashed out and skidded across the grassy mess. I looked back and saw Keith on my tail, but luckily the finish line was right in my grasp.

Sadly, my winter hibernation killed my stamina and I was too cramped and sore to compete in the slide competition. Luckily my teammate, Jeremy Ross shredded the crap out of the hill and earned himself a well earned first place as he was fearlessly throwing huge, fast standing slides and shove it slides down the hill.
